Sarah Thomson is a 250 hr RYT Yoga Guide with a Trauma-Conscious and Body Affirming-Adaptive focus.
My style is welcoming, grounding and intuitive. I promote an individualized practice, with intention to connect to the knowing already within through meditation, breathwork and movement.
I began the physical asana of yoga to help me recover from a shoulder injury instead of formal PT. It worked! In the process I fell in love with how yoga made me feel - more relaxed, at peace - and more capable of identifying and sometimes elminating everyday stressors. Wow!
It has opened alternative pathways of healing to me including bodywork and breathwork. When I became pregnant, my practice took on a whole new look, feel, and meaning. Returning to my breath helped me immensely during labor, and assisted with the intense (and empowering) experience of a natural home birth with Duluth Midwife by my side.
My respect deepened and interest in the birth world lit up after having my first baby and taking Indie Births invaluable 13 Moons course (it's pay as you can now!). I learned so much about birth and my body, more than in the 37 years prior combined. I also experienced firsthand the importance of being encircled by a community of support during the childbearing / rearing years. Now more than ever, I see that there's a big-time need to make support more readily available and accessible to more people of all backgrounds / income levels. (Check out my sliding scale option).
My respect for yoga also grew immensely during my formal training in 2020 with Svälja’s House of the Gathering Yoga School. Other focuses were: Trauma Conscious Yoga, Depth Psychology, Sustainability Practices, Communtiy Awareness and Selfless Service.
I'm an aspiring gardener and am transforming our yard into a native pollinator garden. I also love reading, nature walks, stand up paddleboarding, and spending time with my little famiily, Oskar and Jereme, and our newly adopted german shepherd dog, Freyja. I also love Duluth!
My background and formal training has provided me opportunity to see the world through a trauma conscious lens. I also realize and accept that I have room to grow.
I would like to create an inclusive space for all people entering and moving througth the realm of parenthood.
Participating in a circle allows us the opportunity to honor the many unique stories we weave together into a common thread. I believe we are stronger when we join together in community - even if our views and values may be a little different. And that at the root of it all, we really do just want what we feel is best for ourselves and our families.
This is going to look different for each person and I lovingly accept and embrace our individuality.
